~With summer officially winding down for our family---sad as it may be---I wanted to share some of the projects we worked on over the summer.
~These larger than life projects are made using dairy filter discs. The boys (and us) enjoy seeing their art every morning at our breakfast table.
~As I mentioned in the previous post, the boys have been cooking and baking alot this summer. This is one of Z.'s favorite fruit drinks--"Orange Julius". I remember making this many times as a child. I was always so excited when my mom would say, "get out the ice cubes and juice". The recipe has about five ingredients and was acquired from my mom--but not sure where it really originated.
~This is also my new favorite pitcher/vase--which is from a nearby fine coffee and handmade pottery establishment. Just crazy about the size and design. I like the idea of using a pitcher for flowers and am continually on the look out for new pottery designs and shapes.
~The boys made beads and necklaces this summer. The beads were made with Sculpy clay--which is cooked with a bamboo skewer to keep a hole for threading. I think they really just like the process of stringing things on leather/wire. Of course C.C. always ends up wearing their finished projects after the boys have removed them for the day. Always an opportunist!
~While visiting our family this summer, we always have to take a project along to the keep the boys active. All three enjoy painting rocks at Grandmas, and are to this day--still looking at the ground for more rocks to collect and paint. We are getting quite the stash of unpainted rocks by the door at home--so will have to work on those yet.
