~I seem to have more and more sewing projects piling up in my space. I like the feeling of having a flurry of ideas going around to create for our family.
So it was time that I worked through some of my ideas. I purchased this fabric a year or so ago, and had this pattern in mind for the design (Kwik Sew 3179).
~I made this top a few years ago, and found that I am still wearing it out and about. It is comfortable, and I like that the fabric is cut on the bias. This pattern does call for a double narrow hem, or a rolled hem. I do not own a serger, but did take a drive to browse some sergers---after I spent gobs of time pinning this hem. If you look at the pattern---there is A LOT of hem to pin. oh my!
~I don't share often of the projects that DON'T work out. It can be disheartening when a project that you take the time to construct--just isn't fitting correctly. I made this skirt a while back with some lovely designer fabric that was a gift--only to find that it just wasn't draping how I envisioned. I altered, and re-altered--finally just put it away in the closet for a while. So on I go--to the next project--but those failed garments DO slow you down for a while.
